The Apartment Mandap
The "Intimate Wedding" isn't just a pandemic trend; it's a lifestyle choice. Many 2026 couples are choosing to get married in their living room or terrace, surrounded by just 20 people. But a home wedding doesn't mean a boring setup.
You don't need a massive truss structure or heavy fabrication. You need smart design that respects the scale of your home. Here are 4 layouts that cost peanuts but look premium.

Option 1: The Banana Leaf Backdrop (Eco-Chic)
This is the most affordable and photogenic option. The vibrant green of fresh banana leaves pops against any wall color. It smells divine and is 100% biodegradable.
2. Wooden Frame (Rent from carpenter): ₹2,000
3. Tuberose (Rajinigandha) strings for contrast: ₹2,000
4. Brass Urlis with water: Own/Borrow.
Option 2: The "Fabric Drape" Tent
Perfect for terraces. Create a "Tipi" or canopy style mandap using sheer fabrics (chiffon or georgette). Use pastel colors like Peach, Mint, or Ivory to make the space look bigger.
2. 30 Meters of Fabric (Wholesale market): ₹6,000
3. Fairy Lights (Warm White): ₹2,000
4. Floor Cushions/Gaddas: Rent locally.
Option 3: The "Brass & Bell" Installation
If you don't have space for pillars, use the ceiling. Hang varying lengths of brass bells and marigold strings from a curtain rod. Place two large brass lamps (Samay) on either side. Zero floor space wasted.
3. Lighting: The Secret Ingredient
Home lighting (tubelights) is terrible for photos. It casts green/blue shadows.
The Fix: Rent 4 "Par Can" lights (Warm White) from a local sound vendor. Place them in the 4 corners of the room pointing upwards (Uplighting). This bounces soft, golden light off the ceiling and makes everyone look glowing.
Rental Cost: ₹2,000 per day.
